The personal touch

Like all of the staff at Sea View Retreat, our nurses have been chosen as much fornurse.JPG (28803 bytes) their compassion, patience and love of older people as their medical expertise.

The attributes which make Sea View such an attractive place to live – its warm, family-like atmosphere, for example – also make it a wonderful place to work. That’s why many of our nurses have chosen to remain at Sea View for so long. Their longevity and dedication to Sea View means that we’re able to present a cohesive, highly-experienced nursing team unlike any other.

The primary nurse concept

Each floor at Sea View has a group of primary nurses who remain assigned to the same residents. Likewise, our certified nursing aides (CNAs) work exclusively with a consistent group of residents. Our nurses, therefore, are very knowledgeable about each of the residents in their charge and can best provide quality care without having to reorient themselves on a daily basis. In this way, we are able to insure a continuum of care for our residents.

Family members appreciate the primary nurse model also. They know who is taking care of their loved one and where to turn with their questions and concerns. The nurses become like extended members of the residents’ families.

Quality care

Steeped in tradition, the lovely campus at Sea View Retreat pays homage to its glorious past. But when it comes to the care we provide, we are firmly grounded in the latest medical technologies and today’s highest quality standards. All nurses and CNAs regularly attend in-service training and pursue educational courses. Our equipment is constantly reviewed and updated. Safety is of paramount importance.

Through multi-disciplinary meetings and other daily contact, the nursing staff works closely with other departments to coordinate care and offer the very best experience for our residents.
