By helping residents regain and maintain their maximum level of
independence, the Rehabilitation Department team encourages Sea Views residents to
live as actively and with as much dignity as possible.
Our licensed and registered staff of therapists works closely with each residents
physician and family to develop a personalized, outcome-based treatment plan. The
rehabilitation team communicates regularly with the nursing staff and other departments to
ensure that treatment objectives are integrated each day throughout Sea View.
Sea Views rehabilitation programs meet all Medicare, state and federal
requirements.
Massage Therapy
One
of our most unique offerings, massage therapy is also one of Sea Views most popular
features. Specially trained and certified, the massage therapists relaxing
treatments help guests release muscle tension. Massage promotes better health and
well-being and also provides a special way to reach our non-communicative residents.
Complimentary mini-massages are offered to all our guests and individual sessions are
available
Short-Term Rehabilitation Care
Some patients who have had a stroke, an orthopedic fracture or other debilitating
episode may not be ready to immediately return to their homes after a hospital stay. Sea
View offers short-term transitional care, including home visits, discharge planning and
family training to help patients learn the skills and strategies theyll need to cope
with their environments back home.
Rehabilitation services available at Sea View include:
Physical Therapy
Through exercise, coordination, endurance building and training programs, physical
therapists focus on improving functional mobility activities such as walking, transferring
from bed to wheelchair and climbing stairs. Among other services, physical therapists also
evaluate wheelchairs and instruct residents about personal safety.
Occupational Therapy
To help our residents maximize independence in their daily lives with tasks like
bathing, dressing and grooming, occupational therapists work on programs to build strength
and improve coordination. Occupational therapists also offer training to help residents
properly use adaptive devices and develop new skills to compensate for loss of function.
Speech-Language Therapy
By working on strategies to improve language, articulation, cognition and hearing,
speech-language pathologists help residents with both receptive and expressive
communication. Residents with swallowing difficulties also benefit from speech-language
therapy programs.
